Christ the King Church

About Us

Christ the King Church was founded with a great passion to make disciples in Greater Cincinnati by reconciling people to God and to each other through Jesus Christ. This is a fancy way of saying that we’re all about the gospel. We believe that the gospel message of Jesus Christ is powerful enough to change people’s lives, heal communities, and impact our city. Christ the King Church meets in uptown Cincinnati, with another gathering starting soon in Northern Kentucky.

Our Story

Where we’ve come from

Cincinnati is one of the most incredible and interesting places in the world. Cincinnati has a long history as one of America’s oldest boom towns, and this city is on the verge of an exciting renewal. This is a great time to live, work, and play in the core urban neighborhoods of this city. And the northern Kentucky neighborhoods are some of the fastest growing areas in the state of Kentucky.

Christ the King Church originally began with the vision of reaching the city of Cincinnati from the inside out. Our desire is to see the gospel of Jesus transform everything around us. Since the geographic, economic, and cultural engine of Cincinnati is in the center city, we decided that this would be a great place to start a new church. In a very short period of time, Ctk Uptown experienced rapid growth. Our church quadrupled in size in just 18 months.

So in the fall of 2011, the elders of Ctk decided the time was right to expand our mission. We had developed a great relationship with another like minded church plant in Northern Kentucky called New City Church. Our two leadership teams made the decision that we would all be stronger and more effective in mission if we were to join together as one church operating in two locations.

Where we’re going next

Currently, we gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 10am at the Corryville Rec Center in Uptown. We are walking distance from the University of Cincinnati, Children’s Hospital, University Hospital, and Short Vine. Our gathering is about 90 minutes where we worship God in singing, preaching and communion.

We also have smaller “City Groups” that meet throughout the week to talk about the Bible, pray together, build strong friendships with each other and serve our communities together. We are currently working to strengthen our ties with the local community through serving the neighborhoods, Community Councils, clean up projects, and so forth. Our long term dream is to establish Christ the King Church as a faithful witness to the gospel for generations throughout the city of Cincinnati.

Our plan is to take this same basic church DNA and replicate it in our Northern Kentucky location starting in 2012. Beyond this, we hope to see more churches planted from Christ the King Church throughout the city and around the world. We are developing strategic ministry partnerships in India to plant gospel centered churches there.

We have included lots of details about our church that you can explore in the side panel, including our theological beliefs, our core identities, our leaders, our vision, and more.
